Trou aux Biches
Situated in the north-west, 75 minutes drive from the airport, this resort, with its white powdery sandy beach ideal for walks or sun-baths, is the most sought-after beach of the island. The beautiful turquoise lagoon is very safe for children. It is said that sunsets in Trou aux Biches are magical with their ever-changing hues from orange to pink and purple.
Various facilities are at hand: A well-stocked supermarket where visitors can buy freshly baked bread, French wine and cheese; several restaurants offering various cuisines; ATM; pharmacy
Nautical activities nearby include scuba diving, parasailing, deep sea fishing, and towed inflatable buoys. Daily trips to Ile Plate & Ilot Raphael, with barbecue food and drinks on board, are available.
Local buses service the surrounding villages and can be taken to lively Grand Bay, and Port-Louis, the capital.
