Grand Gaube
Grand Gaube is situated in the north-east of Mauritius, south of Cap Malheureux, and about 90 minutes drive from SSR International Airport. Grand Gaube offers a beautiful sea view with the 4 offshore northern islands, Coin de Mire, Ile Plate, Ilot Raphaël and Ile Ronde as background on the horizon skyline. It is one of the Mauritian resorts that has not suffered much change through tourism, with its traditional wooden boats, called “péniches”, still being built by marine craftsmen in the area.
There are daily trips by catamaran to Ile Plate and Ilot Raphael – with barbecue lunch and drinks on board. Trips to l’Ile d’Ambre and l’Ilot Bernache, two islets inside the lagoon, are also available, followed by snorkelling. These are enjoyed by those who do not feel comfortable on the open sea…
