Belle Mare is situated on the east coast, north of Trou d’Eau Douce, about 1 hour drive from the airport. Its public beach is very popular among Mauritians, especially on weekends.

Further away, lies the most exclusive fine white sandy beach, stretching between One&Only Le St Géran and Belle Mare Plage Hotel. The beautiful white sandy beach running along the beautiful lagoon of turquoise waters invites to sunbathing and lazing in the sun. Many restaurants offering Indian, European, Chinese or local cuisines are to be found nearby.

There are several hotels in the area, on the east coast: Beau Rivage, The Residence, Ambre, Coco Beach, Emeraude, La Palmeraie, and Le Palmar, but the two major hotels in the area are Le St Geran and Belle Mare Plage, and both offer golfing activities, making Belle Mare the paradise for golfers, with not less than 3 international golf courses nearby.
