Situated at the extreme north of the island, 3 km from Péreybère, Cap Malheureux is 90 minutes drive from the airport. It is a quiet residential area with a lovely white powdery beach stretching over several kilometres alongside a picturesque turquoise lagoon. The northern offshore islands can be seen in the background.

There are no hotels nearby, but a few large private houses, luxuriously furnished and decorated, set right on the beach, most of them well secured from the coast road by high walls. A few small grocery shops and fresh vegetable stalls are scattered along the coastal road leading to Péreybère and Grand Bay. Grand Bay, only 10 minutes drive away, have several well-stocked supermarkets and a good choice of night clubs, bars and restaurants. All resorts close to Grand Bay benefit from all the activities available there – scuba diving, deep sea fishing, undersea walk, Blue Safari submarines…

A few private villas, namely Albatros and Alouette villas, and some luxury serviced residences like Cape Point and Myra are available for short-term bookings.
